Santa Claus is coming to Hawaii Kai!

The Hawaii Kai Holiday Parade on Saturday, November 29 will once again be one of Santa’s first stops of the holiday season!  Sponsored by Koko Marina Center and the Hawaii Kai Lions Club, the parade is always a much anticipated and cherished community tradition in East Oahu.

Thousands of keiki, and keiki at heart of all ages are expected to line the 1.5 mile route along Lunalilo Home Road from Kamiloiki Community Park to Koko Marina Center. The parade starts promptly at 10 am so be prepared for traffic interruptions.

More than 1,300 participants and volunteers and 30 decorated vehicles will join in this years parade. Some of the participants include the Kaiser High School ROTC Color Guard;  Royal Hawaiian Band, Kaiser High School Band, Mckinley High School Band, and Celtic Band; hundreds of local preschool and elementary school students; scouts, pageant queens, decorated floats, cheerleaders, classic cars and many more.

This year we are also privileged to have 150 members of the Wyoming All State Marching Band which is comprised of students representing up to 32 different communities and 27 high school programs.  The Band has performed a number times in the Tournament of Roses Parade and the Macy’s Thankgiving Day Parade.

And what would a Holiday Parade be without Hawaii Kai Lions and the Kaiser High School LEO Club members joining as Santa’s helpers in joyfully handing out thousands of pieces of candy canes to all along the route.

As the parade ends at Koko Marina Center, the fun will continue in the Marina Courtyard with a Christmas Carnival from 11 am to 1 pm! Attendees are invited to bring a new unwrapped toy or make a cash donation to Toys for Tots and kids can enjoy the Holiday Train, Lil Swing, Mini Ferris Wheel and Carousel for free! Other activities will include:

  • Holiday Ornament Craft and Tattoos with Kaiser High School’s 2015 Project Grad
  • Hawaii Kai Strong disaster readiness informational booth and games
  • Maunalua Communities Foundation Holiday Coloring Station
  • Origami Crane-making Fundraiser for Kapiolani Medical Center

Keiki will wait anxiously for Santa Clause to arrive via a speed boat in the marina courtesy of Hawaii Water Sports Center while the crowd watches a hula performance by Hula Halau O Leolani. Once Santa arrives, families can take a photo with Santa and receive a treat!
