Soloist Singing Contest & Band Challenge

Koko Marina Center's Muscial Talent Show hosted by Kutmaster Spaz. Here are the rules to enter:

SOLOISTS:

• There is NO FEE to enter.

• Soloist must submit a YouTube video link to spaz@disndatmedia.com of their performance no longer then three (3) minutes of Soloist performance (practice session or live stage performance). Please submit contact name, e-mail address and phone number for Soloist. End date for submissions will be Monday September 10, 2018 at 6:00 pm Hawaii Standard time. Soloist will be Selected and notified no later than Friday, September 14, 2018 with the live contest taking place on Saturday, September 22, 2018 between 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Koko Marina Center and a mandatory contest meeting on Monday September 17th at 7:00 pm to go over competition day.    

• All federal, state, local and municipal laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited. Soloist must be unsigned and the performances must be performed live to a prerecorded track on CD or MP3. Soloist cannot be a professional singer. For the sake of this rule form the definition of a “professional singer” is if the Soloist gets paid a talent fee to play or sing weekly or monthly at any location or establishment. 

• Soloist may not use a live instrument in this contest. Only a CD or MP3 track with background (backup vocals).

• Soloist must be between the ages of 13 – 18 between September 14th and September 22nd, 2018 and if Selected to participate may be asked to verify with a photocopy of picture ID for proof of age.

• Soloist must reside on the island of Oahu in the state of Hawaii.

• Soloist must be dressed appropriately to perform for families. Nice dress or shirt and shoes or are required.

• Soloist must perform a song withoutobscene or offensive lyrics, swearing or profanity.

• DIS-N-DAT Media will not accept a Soloist with obscene or offensive lyrics, or indecent or obscene body gestures.

• Each Selected Soloist will be notified of their acceptance and must complete the Koko Marina Singing Soloist Official Registration Packet to finalize participation in the Koko Marina Singing Soloist Contest. Mandatory packet materials include the completed Official Waiver Agreements, Official Bio Questionnaires and Official final song Selection with lyrics. These materials are mandatory and may be used for media advertising purposes and marketing purposes. Materials will not be returned and must be received or postmarked by Monday, September 17th, 2018.

• Qualifying Soloist will perform live one (1) song each (cover or original) on Saturday, September 22nd, 2018 no longer than three (3) minutes and must provide written copy of lyrics of Soloist song Selection. The song as registered by qualifying Soloist will be the only one allowed in the final competition on September 22nd, 2018.

BANDS:

• There is NO FEE to enter.

• Bands must submit a YouTube video link to spaz@disndatmedia.com of bands performance that is no longer than three (3) minutes of bands performance (practice session or live stage performance). Please submit contact name, e-mail address and phone number for band along with the link. End date for submissions will be Monday, September 10, 2018 at 6:00 pm Hawaii standard time. Bands will be Selected and notified no later than Friday, September 14, 2017 with the live contest taking place on Saturday, September 22, 2018 between 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Koko Marina Center and a mandatory contest meeting on Monday September 17th at 7:00 pm to go over competition day.

Each band is required to have between 2 to 6 members one of which plays an instrument throughout the majority of the performance. Band must be unsigned and the performances must be performed live. Band members cannot be professional musicians or singers. For the sake of this rule form the definition of a “professional musician or singer” is if a Band member (or the entire band) gets paid a talent fee to play or sing weekly or monthly at any location or establishment. 

• No more than 50% of your band members can perform with another band.

• All members of the band must be between the ages of 13 – 18 between September 4th and September 23rd, 2017 and if Selected to participate will be asked to verify with a photocopy of picture ID for proof of age.

• All members of the band must reside on the island of Oahu in the state of Hawaii.

• Adding additional band members after registration is prohibited without the consent of DIS-N-DAT Media (organizer). Replacing more than one-third of band members is prohibited without the consent of DIS-N-DAT Media (organizer).

• Bands must be dressed appropriately to perform for families. Shirts and shoes are required.

• Bands or duos must perform music or songs withoutobscene or offensive lyrics, swearing or profanity.

• DIS-N-DAT Media will not accept bands with obscene or offensive lyrics, or indecent or obscene body gestures.

• Each Selected Band will be notified of their acceptance and must complete the Koko Marina Band Challenge Official Registration Packet to finalize participation in the Koko Marina Band Challenge. Mandatory packet materials include the completed Official Waiver Agreements, Official Bio Questionnaires and Official final song Selection with lyrics. These materials are all mandatory and may be used for media advertising purposes and marketing purposes. Materials will not be returned and must be received or postmarked by Monday, September 10, 2018.

• Qualifying bands will perform live two (2) songs each (covers or originals) on Saturday, September 22, 2018 no longer than a six (6) minute performance and must provide written copy of lyrics of band’s song Selections. The songs as registered by qualifying bands will be the only ones allowed in the final competition on September 22, 2018.

• Qualifying bands must provide their instruments, back line and other special equipment needed for performance. Stage hand, sound board operator, P.A. sound, stage monitors, D.I’s (Direct Input), microphones and stands will be provided for competition performance.
