About HNL Jiu Jitsu
HNL Jiu Jitsu Academy is located in the Koko Marina Center, in beautiful Hawaii Kai. HNL Jiu Jitsu provides self-defense and sport jiu jitsu instruction and fitness training to children and adults six days a week. We offer group classes and private lessons. Our academy endeavors to understand and support positive, healthy lifestyles that we encourage for all of our teachers and students.
Head Instructor, Kayle Quinn, is a third-degree black belt who has trained under Grand Master Relson Gracie for over 18 years. Relson is the 2nd oldest son of Grandmaster Helio Gracie, the creator of Gracie Jiu Jitsu. Starting his training at age 2 and winning his first tournament at age 10, Relson earned the nickname “Campeo” meaning Champion. He taught for many years at the Gracie Academy in Rio De Janeiro before moving to Honolulu to share his family’s art with the people of Hawaii. He established the Relson Gracie Academy in 1988 where many prominent jiu jitsu students trained under him, some of whom opened their own academies under the Gracie Association to carry on the legacy of Gracie Jiu Jitsu. In 2013 Relson was awarded the title of Grandmaster as a 9th-degree red belt, the highest rank attainable in Gracie Jiu Jitsu.
HNL’s curriculum is grounded in the Gracie Jiu Jitsu style, but also incorporates modern, cutting-edge techniques which allows us to provide a holistic, dynamic training program to all of our students.
